Renewed search for answers in Aug. 2012 triple murder

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Boston police are renewing their call for information one year after the murder of three 22-year-old women in Dorchester.

Genevieve Philip, 22, of Milton, Kirsten Lartey, 22, of Hyde Park, and Sharrice Perkins, 22, of Dorchester, were all shot while sitting in a parked car in the area of 36 Harlem Street at about 9:22 p.m. on Aug. 12, 2012. A fourth woman survived with a gunshot wound to the leg.

After the shooting, officials said there was no indication the shooting was random.

Investigators say the four friends, who were high school classmates, attended a gathering at the Shattuck Picnic Grove in Franklin Park prior to the shooting. They say at least 100 people attended the event. One year later, police are asking anyone who may have been there and who spoke to the victims to contact them.

Days after the triple murder, police released a surveillance photo showing a white SUV with halogen lights driving in the area of the shooting. They continue to seek the public's help in identifying the driver of the SUV, which is believed to be a newer model Saturn Vue or Chevrolet Captiva.

The 2012 murders occurred during a weekend of violence in the city. The night before the women were killed, one man was fatally shot to death and three others were injured in Roslindale. The violence prompted faith leaders in the city to hold a meeting calling for unity and peace within the community.
