Quincy restaurant, police partner to give free Uber rides over holiday

QUINCY, Mass. — A Quincy restaurateur is working with public safety officials to make sure that all their customers have a safe ride home.

Leo Keka of Alba Restaurant along with Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey and Quincy Police created the Server Training and Designated Driver Program. It includes free Uber and taxi rides for patrons of the restaurant if they've had too much to drink.

"We want our guests to celebrate in an environment of safety," Keka said in a release. "Our guests can ask any server or host and we'll ensure they have safe and free transportation home."

The program also features special cups for designated-drivers. DD's will get free soda in cups so people know someone else is relying on them to get home safely.

Other restaurants are encouraged to participate as well, and can get more information by calling the district attorney's office at (781) 830-4917.
