MEDFORD, Mass. — A man was arrested Saturday after allegedly assaulting an Uber driver and making off with the driver's vehicle.
According to police, an Uber driver picked up four people early Saturday in Boston. Two of the passengers were sisters, one was a man the sisters knew and another was a man they had just met that night.
Police say the two women started arguing with each other in the car, which prompted the driver to ask them all to get out on Salem Street in Medford.
As they got out of the car, the man the women had just met assaulted the driver and took off in the car, police said. Police told FOX25 the man punched the driver in the face and stole the vehicle. One of the sisters was still inside the car at the time.
Late Saturday afternoon, Medford police confirmed that the stolen vehicle had been located in Malden and that the man who had stolen the vehicle, identified by police as 33-year-old Nicholas Fabrizio of Lynn, had turned himself into the Medford police station.
Fabrizio was arrested and charged with carjacking, assault and battery. He is set to be arraigned in Somerville District Court on Monday.
