Police recover more than $300K worth of drugs, loaded gun during bust in Quincy

Police recovered more than $300,000 worth of drugs and a loaded gun with 38 rounds of ammunition during a bust in Quincy, according to Quincy Police.

Police said their Drug Control Unit observed what they believed to be a drug transaction Monday evening around 6:10 p.m. between a Quarry Street resident, identified as 35-year-old Robert Cooley, and another man named Jeffrey Wilson, a 35-year-old Roxbury resident.

Detectives stopped Wilson's vehicle and allegedly recovered approximately eight grams of crack cocaine, and detectives later got a search warrant for Cooley's home.

During their search around 11 p.m. Monday night, detectives allegedly recovered a loaded firearm, 38 rounds of .22 ammunition and 77 bags of a "green leafy substance" that was believed to be marijuana, weighing more than 50 pounds and valued around $100,000.

The search also recovered more than 2,000 grams of cocaine with a street value of approximately $200,000, 505 THC cartridges valued around $25,000 and approximately 20 grams of meth valued around $2,000.

Approximately $30,000 in cash and other items indicative of drug sales were also alegedly recovered in the search.

After the incident, Wilson was arrested and charged with possession of class B with the intent to distribute, impeding/interfering with a police investigation and conspiracy to violate the controlled substances act.

Cooley was also arrested and charged with distribution of class B (cocaine), conspiracy to violate the controlled substances act, trafficking cocaine (200 grams), trafficking marijuana, trafficking class B (methamphetamine), unlicense possession of a firearm, firearm in the commission of a felony, unsecured firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and possession of class C with the intent to distribute (THC).

Both Wilson and Cooley were expected to be arraigned in Quincy District Court Tuesday.
