Police seek video after man dies in hit-and-run crash in Methuen

METHUEN, Mass. — A 57-year-old man died after he was hit by a car on Jackson Street in Methuen Monday night.

Timothy Lafferty was hit by a car as he was standing in the road in front of his home while a tow truck unloaded his car around 8:40 p.m., Methuen police said.

Just down the road, police say they were called to check out a vehicle with front end damage that may have been involved. That car was seized by officers but investigators have not released any information about a possible suspect.

Police are asking anyone with surveillance video that may have captured the vehicle leaving the scene or any other details that could be helpful to come forward.

Police are asking residents on Jackson Street from Ranger Road to Pleasant Valley Street to check their surveillance cameras for a car traveling toward Pleasant Valley Street around the time of the crash.

The road was closed for several hours as police continued to investigate.

Anyone who believes they may have information about the incident is asked to contact the Methuen Police Department at 978-983-8698.
