WORCESTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A 25-year-old man is in serious condition following an early morning shooting in Worcester.
Police responded to Thursday's shooting in the area of 52 Providence St. at about 3:30 a.m. When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and transported him to the hospital.
According to police, the victim is a known gang member.
Officers searched the area, collected evidence from the scene, and gathered statements from witnesses.
Following a preliminary investigation, police concluded a group of five to eight people were involved in the shooting which may have been gang and/or narcotic related. Police also said a group was seen running from the area shortly after the shooting occurred.
An investigation is ongoing.
