WAKEFIELD, Mass. — A man who allegedly stabbed a co-worker and ran off into a marshy area in Wakefield was arrested by police Tuesday morning.
Elvin Gutierrez, 34, of Chelsea, was arrested and charged with assault to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a knife, according to a news release.
Wakefield Police were called at 8:25 a.m. to Produce Connection at 96 Audubon Road for a report of an employee who was stabbed. Officers assisted the stabbing victim and while investigating, identified Gutierrez as the assailant.
Wakefield Police and Massachusetts State Police K9 found Gutierrez after he ran into a wooded area at the end of Audubon Road.
The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment and his injuries are unknown at this time.
Police are actively investigating the stabbing.
