PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Plymouth Police announced the sudden retirement of K-9 Felix on Thursday following his recent diagnosis of an aggressive form of terminal cancer.
The four-legged officer’s last tour of duty will be on Friday. He'll be put down at 2:30 p.m. at Court Street Animal Hospital. Immediately after, a police escort will take him to Angel View Crematory and Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to attend.
“K-9 Felix has served the Town of Plymouth with Honor and Courage in the apprehension of numerous violent criminals as well as locating missing children and evidence,” Chief Michael Botieri said in a statement.
K-9 Felix joined the force in 2017 and was assigned to Officer Keith Larson.
