Person hit, killed by commuter rail train in Billerica

BILLERICA, Mass. — A person who MBTA Police said was trespassing on the tracks was struck by a train near the Pond Street Bridge.

An outbound Lowell commuter rail train hit a person who was on the right of way of the New Hampshire and Maine line tracks around 7:25 a.m., MBTA Police said.

The victim is preliminarily identified as a male and was pronounced dead at the scene.
