Pedestrian injured after being struck by pickup in Norwood

A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a pickup in Norwood, according to Norwood Police.

Police said the pedestrian, a 67-year-old West Roxbury man, was struck on Washington Street by a vehicle heading southbound in the vicinity of Day Street.

Police said the man was with his wife at the time, but she was not injured in the crash.

The pedestrian was treated on scene by Norwood Police and Fire, and then transported to Norwood Hospital. He was later transported to a Boston hospital and underwent surgeries for multiple injuries.

There has been no update on the victim's condition.

Police arrested 35-year-old Peter Whalen of Norwood for operating under the influence (second offense) and operating negligently.

Whalen was released on bail and is expected to be arraigned Monday in Dedham District Court.

The incident remains under investigation by Norwood Police.
