A pedestrian was killed after being struck by two vehicles in Malden Friday, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Police said the incident happened on Route 1 southbound in Malden around 7:30 p.m.
The department confirmed 15 minutes after its initial report that the pedestrian was killed in the crash, and the southbound lanes on Route 1 remained closed with detours in place.

Police confirmed the man was struck by an 84-year-old Stoneham man, before being struck a second time by a 20-year-old Stoneham woman traveling the same direction.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, and no one in either vehicle was injured.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and the identity of the victim has yet to be released.
