BOSTON — Boston city officials have decided to delay the vote on whether to change the name of Yawkey Way.
The road outside of Fenway Park is named for former Red Sox owner Tom Yawkey.

The team’s current owners have asked that it return to its original name, Jersey Street.
They argue Yawkey had a history of racism.

Those against the change said it would taint the legacy of the Yawkey foundations and their charitable work.
Thursday's hearing was packed to capacity with speakers pushing both sides of the debate.

"Injustice anywhere, even on Yawkey Way, is injustice everywhere," said Tito Jackson.
After the two-hour hearing, Boston City Council Committee decided to table the vote until an April 12 meeting in order to allow more input on the controversial move.
