Officials identify victim of Hampton house fire as 7-year-old boy

HAMPTON, N.H. — The New Hampshire Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim of a lethal house fire in Hampton, N.H., according to a joint release from emergency officials in the area.

The announcement comes from N.H. State Fire Marshal Paul J. Parisi along with Hampton Police Chief Richard Sawyer and Hampton Fire Captain Justin Cutting.

The victim, who was killed in an overnight fire on Wednesday, was identified as 7-year-old Nova Demanche. Officials listed the cause of death as thermal and inhalation injuries sustained from the fire; Demanche's death has been ruled accidental.

The cause of the house fire is still under investigation.

Hampton Fire and Police originally responded to the blaze at 32 Thorwald Ave. in the town just before 1 a.m. There, seven people were able to escape from the fire with one person – Demanche – missing.

After extinguishing the flames, firefighters were able to locate the victim inside the house. Demanche was the lone fatality in the ordeal.

Neighbors told Boston 25 News that the residents inside the home where a grandmother who lived with her daughter and three grandsons. The grandmother's other daughter was visiting with her children that night as well.

The fire also damaged a second home when windy conditions caused the flames to spread.
