The fire spread to a neighboring house, which also sustained damage, according to the news release.
Fire officials said crews had to deal with windy conditions, causing the fire to spread to another house and a cottage in the rear of the home.
An autopsy to determine the victim's cause of death will happen sometime later this week, according to the fire marshal's office.
