Off-duty Cohasset police officer helps owner & 2 dogs in distress

COHASSET, Mass. — An off-duty Cohasset police officer called for help Wednesday after coming across a woman and two dogs in Wompatuck State Park who were in distress.

Police said Syke, a seven-year-old yellow lab who only has three legs, injured one of her good legs and was unable to walk.

Skye's sister, Penelope, and their owner were stuck on a trail about a mile into the park when Officer David Roy found them while out for a jog.

Roy called the Cohasset police station to get help and stayed on the phone, guiding officers to their location.

Police helped the woman and her two dogs out of the park.

The woman told police she was going to follow up with Skye's veterinarian.
