FORT IRWIN, California — The U.S. Army is mourning the loss of a soldier killed in a training exercise.
Private First Class Justin Candido Kirby, 21, died in an accident on Monday.

Officials say the New Bedford native was taking part in a combat maneuver operation in a humvee while training at Fort Irwin National Training Center in California.
Another soldier was injured in the crash but is expected to be okay.
According to the Army Times, this comes one week after Army Chief of Staff Gen. James Mcconville told Congress he is concerned about the rise in training accidents and deaths.
