NATICK, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A longtime employee of the Department of Public Works in Natick was killed Tuesday night and another seriously injured during a workplace accident.
Michael McDaniel Jr., a DPW foreman, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 48. Employee Scott Spurling, 41, was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in serious condition but has been upgraded to stable condition.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, according to the DPW, but according the Metro West Daily News, the men were working on repairing a water main break when a backhoe accidentally drove forward and struck the men.
