Mass. man in critical condition after overnight snowmobile crash in Maine

A Massachusetts man is in critical condition after an overnight snowmobile crash in Maine, according to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife.

Authorities say 55-year-old Spencer, Massachusetts native Duane Carter and 47-year-old Benedicta native Keith Sanford were riding with a group on a portion of Swift Brook Road when the two faqiled to negotiate a curve.

As a result, Carter collided with the back of Sanford's snowmobile and was thrown from his own, causing critical injuries.

Sanford suffered a back injury, and both men were transported to Millinocket Hospital.

Carter was then taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he remains in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
