BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Marblehead teen who was injured on a class trip overseas in April is back in Boston and fighting to recover.
Marblehead High School senior Ben Farrar is fighting to recover after an accident in France that left him paralyzed. He was on the beach with fellow students when he decided to go for a swim. He dove into the water, didn't know how shallow it was, and broke his C5 vertebrae.
He was flown to Boston a week ago, and is now at Mass. General Hospital. He remains in the ICU, unable to talk and only able to whisper.
Ben wasn't able to walk across the stage for his graduation ceremony, so one of his friends surprised him in the hospital with his diploma. He gladly accepted.
Ben's uncle spoke to FOX25 Wednesday evening and said his nephew is determined to get healthy and walk again in the future.
