BOSTON — Boston Police arrested a man who they say took a CVS employee hostage on Sunday morning.
Police responded to a call for a breaking and entering at the CVS Pharmacy at 1249 Boylston Street in Boston's South End neighborhood.
Upon arrival, officers found a suspect described as a black male standing behind the pharmacy counter holding an employee against her will with a hypodermic needle.
Officers were able to take the suspect into custody, but during the process, the suspect became verbally and physically abusive towards the officers, kicking one officer in the face.
Further investigation showed the suspect had a pair of gold-colored brass knuckles in his possession.
The victim says the suspect entered the store, walked behind the pharmacy counter claiming to be a CVS employee and demanding to know where the pain killers were kept.
When the employee asked to see his work credentials, the suspect grabbed the victim by the back of her head and slammed her head onto the counter.
According to the victim, the suspect picked up a bag of needles at one point and threatened her with it.
Officers spoke to a second store employee who said the suspect approached her, pushed her in the chest and threatened to kill her.
Justin Morgan, 20, of Boston, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, armed robbery, kidnapping and assault and battery on a police officer.
He is scheduled to be arraigned at the Roxbury District Court on Monday.
