Man arrested after alleged racist rant toward motorcyclists in Dorchester

DORCHESTER, Mass. — A man was arrested for disorderly conduct after allegedly screaming at two motorcyclists in Dorchester, Boston Police say.

An officer blocking traffic responded to the incident around 10:30 p.m. after hearing a man screaming on Chelmsford Street.

The officer allegedly saw the suspect, identified as Dorchester native and Keolis Commuter Services employee Paul Sheehan, yelling at two black motorcyclists in a swear-filled rant, telling them to get out of his neighborhood.

"He was yelling, 'You people are in my neighborhood, get out. You people and these bikes. Y'all are animals,'" one of the victims, identified as a woman named Nene said.

Police separated the 54-year-old Sheehan from the two motorcyclists, who said they pulled over because of the detour on the street.

"I was really afraid he was going to get something out of his house like he said," Nene said. "He told me and the cop several times, 'If she and this bike are here when I come back, watch what I do.'"

Both the man and woman said they were trying to figure out where they were and how to get to their destination, and both left the area after telling the officer they didn't want to give their names.

"I want the community coming together to know we can all live here,' Nene said. "I shouldn't have to be scared to ride my bike."

The officer then got Sheehan's name and information, and Sheehan then went into a house, while the officer went back to blocking traffic.

Over an hour later, while the officer was still blocking traffic around 11:55 p.m., the officer allegedly saw Sheehan walking on Adams Street, swearing and yelling racial slurs.

When the officer tried to stop Sheehan, the man kept walking on the street into a crime scene on Adams Street and Beaumont Street.

Sheehan allegedly started to pull a traffic sign pole that was in the crime scene, and was allegedly yelling and screaming about people damaging his property.

Sheehan was then arrested for disorderly conduct, and sources tell Boston 25 News that Keolis is in the process of removing Sheehan as an employee.

"As a local employer and a company providing a service to the public, we have absolutely no tolerance for this type of reprehensive (sic) conduct or language in or outside the workplace," Keolis spokesperson Justin Thompson said. "The matter is under investigation and we don’t comment on personnel matters.”
