Update: Arrest made after Boylston police officer struck by suspect in Fitchburg

FITCHBURG, Mass. — State Police have announced the arrest of a man wanted for striking a Boylston police officer with a car while allegedly taking off from police.

The officer who was injured works on the State Police Task Force. The incident happened in Fitchburg on Wednesday.

On Friday police announced Bryan Walker, 39, was tracked down in Fitchburg and placed under arrest.

Walker is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder; assault and battery on a police officer causing serious bodily injury; assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; assault and battery on a police officer; Trafficking in cocaine over 36 grams, and leaving the scene of a crash that caused personal injury.

Sky25 was over the scene on Mechanic Street where investigators were canvassing the area.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit was executing a search warrant at 182 Mechanic Street in Fitchburg. Walker was the target of that investigation.

Police say Walker struck the officer with his vehicle while fleeing the scene. The officer, who was on foot during the accident, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to UMass Medical Center.

The Boylston Police Officer continues to undergo treatment and further tests, according to a statement from State Police.

Walker is expected to be arraigned in Fitchburg District Court today.
