Have you ever dreamed about living on your own private island? You can now make that a reality at a price less than the average American house.
Barlocco Island is a 25-acre, uninhabited location off the coast of Scotland that boasts “stunning” scenery and “outstanding” views, according to a Galbraith listing.
The westernmost of Scotland’s Isles of Fleet can be all yours at a minimum asking price of about $186,000.
It’s accessible by boat or at low tide on foot or by tractor or quad bike. It also has a pebble beach on the western side where a boat can be anchored or beached. There are no services or natural water supplies except the flood pond.
There is a catch though that interested buyers need to be aware of. Building on the vacant wilderness may prove difficult because there are environmental protections that prevent owners from easily installing any permanent structures, the New York Times reported.
Galbraith agent David Corrie told the Times that Barlocco is perfect for someone “wishing to reconnect with the land” because the nearest town is six miles away and about two hours from Glasgow, which is Scotland’s most populous city.
A closing date will be set in the coming days, according to Corrie.
