Two Green Line operators placed on paid leave after college student trapped under train, loses leg

BOSTON — Two Green Line operators have been placed on paid leave in connection with an MBTA trolly incident that left a Boston college student without a leg.

Both operators will return to their service if cleared for service after the investigation, according to the Boston Herald.

20-year-old Ava Harlow of Amesbury had just gotten off the train on January 27 and somehow fell under it before it began moving again.

Harlow, who was an avid athlete during her high school years in Amesbury, is expected to need multiple surgeries and a prosthetic.

A Gofundme for Harlow’s recovery has raised over $43,930.

MBTA Transit Police said the accident “does not appear to be the result of any mechanical or MBTA employee failure.”
