Transit officer injured after car collides with motorcycle in Dedham

DEDHAM, Mass. — A police officer is recovering after being injured in a car crash Tuesday afternoon.

Dedham Police responded to the area of 308 Bridge Street around 12:30 p.m. for a report of an accident involving a motorcycle. A Transit Police motorcycle was performing a funeral escort when a car suddenly turned and struck the officer, according to officials.

Police say the officer suffered serious but non life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The road was shut down for multiple hours while police investigated.

It is unclear whether or not the driver of the car will face charges.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
