Bruins anthem singer writes new children’s book

BOSTON, Mass. — “During the pandemic, kids have been through a lot and it’s time to make them smile again,” Todd Angily recently told me just before he was about to sing the National Anthem before a Boston Bruins game at TD Garden.

Angilly has teamed up with his longtime friend, Rachel Goguen, and wrote a new children’s book called “The Adventures of Owen and the Anthem Singer”. Owen is a pug, and Rachel’s therapy dog. For a while, Rachel and Owen have been making appearances at all kinds of places and entertaining children. “Owen is special. Everywhere we went he just makes people smile, so I said we have to do something with him,” said Goguen.

So Rachel and Owen started joining Angilly and going to events together. Rachel then told Todd one day, “we should write a children’s book.” Todd was all in and the book became a reality.

Right now there is one book, with another one written for Christmas that will be released later in the year.

The plan is to publish 3 to 4 books per year with Todd, Owen, and Rachel visiting schools, hospitals, and fire houses amongst other places. All the proceeds from the book will go to the Boston Bruins Foundation.
