WORCESTER, Mass. — Happening Wednesday morning, nurses at St. Vincent Hospital and Tenet Healthcare will hold another round of negotiations. It has now been more than two months since 800 nurses went on strike, claiming unsafe staffing levels.
This will be the third round of negotiations, but still no deal yet. So until they reach an agreement, nurses will be heading to the picket line for the 59th day since the strike began.

Talks between the Massachusetts Nurses Association and Tenet Healthcare, the company that owns St. Vincent Hospital, resume at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. The nurses will present a proposal to the hospital to address staffing levels and patient safety—the main reasons the nurses went on strike back in March.
This latest round of talks follows Tenet Healthcare’s presentation on Saturday. The company made its proposal that nurses say was a positive step in the process and opened the door to discuss staffing issues.
The hospital offered its first proposal during negotiations last week, but the nurses claimed it didn’t address their needs. The hospital’s CEO says she is willing to return to the table at any time to resolve the ongoing strike and agree on a contract.
In the meantime, replacement nurses have been working at the hospital to ensure patients are receiving care.
