Human remains found at site of FBI investigation in Methuen

METHUEN, Mass. — Authorities said human remains were found in Methuen on Thursday in the area where local police and the FBI had been searching and investigating earlier this week.

At about 4:15 p.m., human remains that had been buried in the back of a property on 145 Milk Street were found.

On Wednesday, sources also told Boston 25 News the search was related to a man who went missing from Manchester, New Hampshire a couple months ago.

A family member of the missing man spoke to Boston 25 on Thursday and said he first reported his cousin missing in March.

The wooded area, located off Pleasant Valley and Milk Streets in Methuen was the site of the investigation for the past two days. Officers combed the area with K9′s while digging through mounds of dirt just behind a UHaul center Wednesday.

Neighbors were startled to see such a massive search underway in this area, which is also near a baseball park.

It is unclear at this time if the remains found belong to the missing man or not. The remains will be turned over to the Office of the Medical Examiner for identification and DNA analysis.

No further details were made immediately available.
