Randolph Police arrest Roxbury Man in connection with Wendy’s restaurant shooting

RANDOLPH, Mass. — Randolph Police have arrested and charged a man in connection with Wednesday’s lunchtime shooting right outside a popular Wendy’s restaurant, officials confirm with Boston 25 News.

Marlon Raymond, Jr., 19, of Roxbury was arrested on 11 different charges including, Armed Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery by Discharging a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, according to police.

On Wednesday just after 12 p.m., Randolph police responded to Wendy’s fast-food restaurant for reports of a shooting.

Responding officers located a 20-year-old Randolph man who was shot multiple times after exiting the restaurant, police said. He was rushed to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

For most of the afternoon, Randolph Police were seen blocks away from the crime scene, using a K9 officer to track the suspect’s scent after Raymond fled the scene on foot.

The shooting and the search for the suspect left many in the area on edge.

“Once you hear gunshots, you panic, you don’t know what’s going to happen,” Dave Bruning said. “You’re in the house, you don’t know where he is. He’s probably armed, gun and everything else, you don’t know what’s going to happen.”

Through an investigation, Raymond was identified as a suspect and police say he and the victim knew each other.

On Wednesday evening between 5:30-6 p.m. Raymond was observed by officers when he returned to the area where the firearm had been located by police. He was taken into custody without incident and a knife was located on him during a search, police said.

Raymond was arraigned Thursday morning and entered a plea of not guilty to all charges. The Commonwealth moved to have him held under the dangerousness statutes without bail pending his hearing on May 11, according to District Attorney Michael Morrissey.
