Malcolm Butler is coming back to the New England Patriots.

The Boston Globe and ESPN say Butler has signed a two-year deal with the team for $9 million.

Butler was the hero of Super Bowl XLIX, when he picked off a pass from Russell Wilson of the Seahawks, at the goal line, securing the 2015 win.

In 2018, Butler, a cornerback, was benched by the Patriots in an eyebrow-raising decision during the Patriots’ loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl LII.

The Boston Globe reports the two-year deal includes all the incentives and says Butler is making a comeback after retiring last August for personal reasons.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
