Kenley Jansen will be the lone player repping the famous red, hanging socks at the 2023 MLB All-Star Game in Seattle.

The 34-year-old closer was selected for the 4th All-Star game in his career Sunday.

Unless another member of the Red Sox is named as an injury replacement, this will be the first year since 2015 Boston will only send one player to the Midsummer Classic. Major League Baseball’s 30 ballclubs must send at least one player.

Jansen’s 18 saves rank fifth in the American League. He is 2-4 on the season with a 3.45 ERA.

The July 11 game in Seattle will be Jansen’s first All-Star appearance since 2018 as a member of the Dodgers, his last of three straight appearances.

“I think it’s awesome. I wasn’t expecting it, to be honest with you,” Jansen, told the Boston Globe. “When I heard my name, it was pretty special.”

Jansen is in the first year of a two-year, $32 million deal in Boston.
