Found: Police locate man, 87, who walked away from Weymouth nursing home

WEYMOUTH, Mass. — Police have located the 87-year-old man who sparked a search early Monday morning after he went missing from a nursing home in Weymouth overnight.

Weymouth police said the man, who is a dementia patient at CareOne at Weymouth, a care facility at 64 Performance Drive, was found near the search area just before 6 a.m., walking along a road. Police said he is being checked for injuries because he was only wearing shorts and a T-shirt when he walked away from CareOne.

Police would not say what time the man was initially discovered missing.

Search crews had established a staging area in a parking lot near the facility and boats were brought in because of the proximity to a retention pond.

Search crews have set up a staging area in a parking lot near the nursing home, which is located off Route 53 at the end of an industrial park on Performance Drive in Weymouth.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
