Police investigating fatal two-vehicle crash in Wrentham

WRENTHAM, Mass. — Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash in Wrentham that left one woman dead and sent two others to the hospital.

Wrentham Police and Fire responded to the intersection of East St. and Common Street just before 8 p.m. When officers arrived, they found two vehicles in the middle of the road, heavily damaged.

A preliminary investigation indicates a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck crossed oncoming traffic on Rt. 140 southbound, striking a Hyundai Elantra head-on.

The operator of the Toyota pickup truck was not seriously injured but the passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown to Rhode Island Hospital Trauma Center, where she died shortly after, police said.

The operator and sole occupant of the Hyundai Elantra also sustained serious injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital Trauma Center.

The accident is under investigation by Wrentham Police and Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.

No charges have been filed at this time.
