Police: 76-year-old man tried to lure young girls into his vehicle while they waited at bus stop

HAVERHILL, Mass. — Haverhill police have arrested a man who they say tried to lure two young girls into his vehicle while they waited at their bus stop on Wednesday.

John Perrault, 76, of Haverhill, is facing charges of enticing the two young girls and driving with a revoked license, according to the Haverhill Police Department.

Perrault approached the two girls at their bus stop at the intersection of Brookline Avenue and Main Street and allegedly asked them to enter his vehicle before an adult bystander witnessed the exchange and intervened, prompting Perrault to flee, police said

Perrault was located and arrested at around 5:00 p.m. after an extensive search of the area.

Local schools were alerted of the incident.

Perrault was ordered held on $100,000 bail pending an arraignment Thursday in Haverhill District Court.
