Firefighters rescue pup who fell through ice at Scituate pond

SCITUATE, Mass. — Fire crews in Scituate rescued a black lab who had fallen into frigid waters Wednesday afternoon.

The fire department says they responded to the area of Old Oaken Bucket Road for a dog that couldn’t pull itself out of the water after falling through the ice.

Using Mustang Ice Rescue suits, crews were able to enter the freezing waters and reunite the black lab with its owner.

Officials are reminding the public if you witness anyone or an animal fall through the ice, do not attempt to rescue them yourselves. Call 911 immediately, as firefighters train yearly for ice rescues and situations such as these.
