One dead after car bursts into flames in crash on Mass. interstate

WESTPORT, Mass. — One person is dead after a crash on Interstate 195 in Westport, Massachusetts early Thanksgiving morning.

According to police, just after 2 a.m., troopers and firefighters responded to a crash and car fire on the ramp from Interstate 195 West to Route 88 in Westport.

Upon arrival, officers determined that the car fire was too large to approach the vehicle and they were unable to determine if there was an occupant inside the vehicle.

After the fire was extinguished, police determined that there was a body inside the vehicle. 

Mass. State Police detectives, Crime Scene personnel and crash reconstruction personnel responded to process the scene.

The scene was cleared shortly after 5:30 AM.

The crash remains under investigation.
