Swastika found in Curry College residence hall

MILTON, Mass. — A swastika was discovered at a residence hall at Curry College on Tuesday morning, adding to a growing list of hateful messages discovered on campus since late January. The Milton Police Department immediately responded and began investigating.

The latest was a February 15th bias-hate writing that included threatening language targeting the black community. In that letter, a specific date of February 22, 2022 was noted.

“To ensure our students had the maximum opportunity to continue their studies and to provide as much comfort as possible to our community, we offered flexible learning options last week...this included in-person and hybrid learning options,” a school spokesperson said, “all classes were fully online today, Tuesday, February 22. We are continuing flexible learning options for the rest of the week.”

The Curry College Department of Public Safety and the Milton Police Department are continuing to deploy additional personnel, surveillance, and other strategies to assure the safety of students, faculty and staff, according to school officials.

The college is still offering a $10,000 reward to any individual who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals.

“We are determined to keep our campus a safe, welcoming, and diverse place of learning,” a school spokesperson reassured, “we will continue to diligently address these matters while also offering support and care to our community, and importantly to any and all individuals directly affected.”
