ABINGTON, Mass. — Three people were taken to the hospital after a car slammed into a home in Abington late Thursday night.
Four people were inside the car when it slammed into the bottom floor of the High Street home just after 11:00 p.m., officials told Boston 25 News.
Three of the people inside the car were taken to the hospital to be treated for their non-life-threatening injuries, according to Abington Police Chief John Bonney. No one inside the home was injured.
The house had to be evacuated and the power shut off just because first responders weren’t able to see just how much damage was done to the home in the dark of night.
“The intersection has many roads leading into it. But intersections never cause crashes they have stop signs they have road markings obviously you have to stay on the road. And people pass through these intersections daily safely. So this was something that should never have happened,” Bonney said.
The building commissioner responded to the home after the crash and will return Friday to assess the structural integrity of the building.
The cause of the crash is being investigated.
