Man who died on Emirates flight to Boston tested negative for COVID-19

BOSTON — The passenger who died aboard an Emirates flight from Dubai to Boston has tested negative for COVID-19, Mass. State Police officials announced Monday afternoon.

At 12:30 p.m. Friday, troopers learned of a passenger in cardiac arrest aboard a flight bound for Boston. By the time the flight landed, Boston EMS determined the passenger, a 59-year-old Worcester man, had died.

The man, whose identity has not been released, tested negative for COVID-19.

Officials say the man had been sick with gastrointestinal problems for several days prior to and including the day of his death.

COVID-19 symptoms generally involve fever, sore throat, coughing, shortness of breath, and ultimately severe congestion.
