Man visiting Massachusetts for birth of his 4th grandchild wins $4M scratch ticket prize

BOSTON — A man visiting Massachusetts for the birth of his fourth grandchild won $4 million on a scratch ticket he purchased at a gas station during his visit.

James Devine, of Estero, Florida, chose the cash option on his “$4,000,000 Platinum Jackpot” instant ticket game prize and received a one-time payment of $2.6 million, according to the Massachusetts Lottery Commission.

Devine plans on using a portion of his winnings to buy a new golf cart to tour the Florida community where he lives with his wife.

He bought the winning ticket at Nouria on Memorial Drive in Chicopee.

The gas station will receive a $40,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
