Man killed in single-vehicle crash on I-95 in Canton, state police say

CANTON, Mass. — A man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Canton on Saturday morning, state police said.

The victim’s name was not released pending notification of next-of-kin.

A preliminary investigation found that the crash occurred around 5 a.m., when a 2020 Toyota Tundra traveling southbound on I-95 at a high rate of speed tried to changed lanes, state police said.

The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, lost control of the Tundra, which struck the guardrail and entered the center median, state police said. The driver was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Norfolk County.

Crews temporarily closed the left and middle lanes of the highway. All lanes were reopened at 9:30 a.m.
