Malden man in critical condition following rollover crash in Swansea

SWANSEA, Mass. — The Massachusetts State Police are investigating a serious rollover crash that happened in Swansea on Route 195 Saturday at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Authorities told Boston 25 News that after further investigation, police determined that a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS was eastbound on Rt. 195 when, for reasons still under investigation, it exited the right edge of the road before traveling down an embankment and rolling over.

The driver, a 33-year-old Malden man, was ejected and suffered life-threatening injuries. After crews arrived at the scene, he was taken to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River and subsequently to Rhode Island Hospital, where at last update he was in critical condition.

The passenger of the Mercedes-Benz, the driver’s 11-year-old son, was sent to Charlton Memorial Hospital for potential minor injuries.

The facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Bristol County.

No further details have been released at this time.
