MARTHA'S VINEYARD, Mass. — Long Point beaches on Martha’s Vineyard have been closed all weekend due to a swimming incident on Friday.
According to The Trustees on Martha’s Vineyard, Long Point Wildlife Refuge Beaches were closed on Saturday and Sunday due to a “tragic incident” on Friday. Reservations were refunded.
On Friday, West Tisbury authorities rescued an individual from the water who was struggling to return to the shore.
The male was transported to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.
The person’s condition is unknown at this time.
