Jamaica Plain man dies of injuries after fight in Boulder, CO

BOSTON — A Jamaica Plain man who worked for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology died after an altercation in Boulder, Colorado, police said.

Christopher Eyer, 30, lived in an apartment on Gartland Street, police said. Neighbors told Boston 25 they are shocked by his death.

Police in Boulder were called to a report of an altercation around 10:30 p.m. last Friday night.

Police said it involved Eyer and other men, but police didn’t specify the number of men. When they arrived, they found Eyer with critical injuries.

He was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries.

The press office from MIT said Eyer has worked there since 2012. In a statement, the school said in part:

“We are saddened to confirm that Christopher Eyer, an employee at the MIT Sloan School of Management, died in Boulder, CO on Friday, August 20th. He will be remembered as a valued colleague and friend. We extend our deepest condolences to Chris’s family and those close to him.”

Boulder police said he was last seen several blocks away in the hour before police were called to that fight. They also said he was wearing a suit coat and a button down shirt with no tie. They are asking neighbors with ring cameras to check video for any clues.

We reached out to detectives in Colorado for details but have not heard back.

We also spoke to his landlord in Jamaica Plain, who told Boston 25 that Eyer was a nice guy and a good tenant and had lived there for the last two years.
