Former Boston nanny pleads guilty for child pornography, sent to three years in prison

BOSTON — A Roxbury woman who worked as a child caregiver was sentenced to three years in prison and ten years probation Wednesday after changing her plea to guilty in a child pornography case.

Stephanie Lak, 37, of Roxbury was arrested on April 28, 2021, after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. She was charged with possession of child pornography and distribution of material of a child in a sex act.

On Wednesday morning, Lak returned to Suffolk Superior Court and pleaded guilty to all five charges in this case.

Judge Michael Doolin sentenced Lak to three years and one day in state prison in Framingham followed by 10 years of probation. She has already served 385 days.

Lak admitted receiving and sending about 100 files of child sexual abuse material and engaging in conversations with other social media users in which the abuse of children was discussed.

According to investigators, Lak was active on sittercity.com, a web-based marketplace for nannies and sitters, for several years.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
