Flight cancellations, delays at Boston’s Logan Airport climbing as nor’easter bears down

BOSTON — Travelers flying out of Boston’s Logan International Airport on Thursday are being urged to keep an eye on their flight status because a nasty nor’easter ahead of Memorial Day weekend could cause cancellations and delays.

As of 9 p.m. Thursday, there were 66 cancellations and 442 delays at Logan, according to FlightAware. Fifty-nine of the cancellations were impacting Cape Air and 97 of the delays were related to JetBlue.

The nor’easter was expected to peak during the afternoon and persist into the evening hours, bringing torrential rain, wind gusts up to 50 mph, and coastal flooding.

As the nor’easter ramped up, cancellations and delays climbed.

Experts encourage travelers to monitor their flight information before heading to the airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration anticipated Thursday as the busiest day to fly over the holiday weekend.
