HAVERHILL, Mass. — Firefighters had to pull water from the Merrimack River to fight a fire at 100 Coffin Ave. in Haverhill Monday morning.
Haverhill Fire Chief Robert O’Brien told Boston 25 News the homeowner called 911 around 7:30 a.m. due to electrical issues with their hot tub.
When crews arrived at the scene, the house was fully engulfed in flames.
O’Brien said the entire family made it out safely and no firefighters were hurt.
Crews from several surrounding communities assisted Haverhill firefighters at the scene. O’Brien said they encountered some issues with old fire hydrants which forced them to pull water from the nearby Merrimack River to help fight the fire.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
O’Brien said the house is a total loss.
