Family of Boston murder victim Daniel Sanders looking for justice

BOSTON — Lorna Sanders has been mourning the loss of her son, Daniel Sanders, every single day since October 2022.

“That was my only son. My only son. Everybody was joyful when I had a boy and he is not there anymore. And it’s a big loss, a big loss,” Lorna said.

At about 1 a.m. on October 22nd, Danny Sanders was fatally shot in the area of 39 Baird Street in Dorchester. There is still no arrest.

“I’m not going to stand still and let this just go like that. I’m not going to let Danny be a number it’s not fair. He was not a street person. He should never got caught up and got killed like that. It’s not fair. I’m going to fight for justice for Danny,” Lorna said.

On the weekend that Danny Sanders was murdered, two other people were shot and killed in Boston’s neighborhoods.

Boston Police told Boston 25 News the Sanders case is very much an open and active investigation, but they have publicly released no other details.

Danny’s family believes Danny was on Baird Street to attend a candlelight vigil for another victim of violence who had recently passed away. They believe Danny was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“I don’t know, my son got killed. He was not the target, but he ended up being the target. I don’t know why. I just want the person to come forward,” Lorna said.

Danny Sanders was 36 years old, a father of four, his youngest was just born on Wednesday. His daughters are heartbroken.

“My dad was a beautiful person. He loved dogs and he treated me well,” Daughter Aniylah Sanders said.

“It’s been really hard, I think about him every day, I know he’s not here, I don’t know what to do,” Daughter Danielle Sanders said.

“It’s not fair. I just hope they find the person that did this to my son,” Lorna Sanders added.
