BOSTON — The Boston Bruins knocked off the Florida Panthers without captain Patrice Bergeron in the opening game of their first-round playoffs series on Monday. They’ll be forced to do it without him again Wednesday night.
Bergeron, who is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, will not be in the lineup when his teammates take the TD Garden ice for Game 2, NHL.com reported.
“Obviously, everybody knows he wants to be in, but the great thing about him is his ability to put his own personal feelings aside,” head coach Jim Montgomery said.
Bergeron reportedly skated on his own prior to the team’s Wednesday morning skate, but he’ll sit for a second straight contest.
Boston defeated Florida 3-1 in the opening game of their best-of-7, Eastern Conference playoff series behind goals from Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak, and Jake DeBrusk.
The puck drop for Game 2 is slated for 7:30 p.m.
