Brockton man arrested for June killing of 19-year-old in Dorchester

BOSTON — Boston police said they have arrested a suspect in the June killing of a 19-year-old in Dorchester.

Cristian Rivera, 21, of Brockton, was arrested Thursday and is facing murder charges for the shooting death of Jamaica Plain resident Malik Gabbidon, who was found with gunshot wounds in an early morning shooting on Thane Street on June 23.

Boston police said Rivera, who is being charged with carrying a firearm without a license and firing a weapon within 500 feet of a dwelling, was arrested in Brockton by the fugitive unit.

No other details on Rivera’s connection to Gabbidon’s death were released.

It’s unclear when Rivera will be arraigned.
